L.H.C.S. was blessed with some Very Important People as guests last week! On Thursday, The Bravo Foundation presented L.H.C.S. with a check for $10,300 to use for scholarships. We want to say a big thank you to Senator John Wozniak, Representative, Mike Hanna, Beth Riccardo (Gearhart Herr), Selective Insurance Company, and Insurance Alliance of Central PA for making the scholarships available. All of the agencies sent representatives to the school for the presentation of the check. After a brief ceremony, Senator Wozniak enjoyed visiting the students in the classrooms. Some of the students shared their science knowledge with him!

On Friday, we had several visitors. Author Tedd Arnold and his wife, Carol, drove from Elmira, NY, to visit our school. Mr. Arnold entertained the students with his storytelling and illustrations. He even autographed books. It was a day many will remember for years to come!

Also visiting us on Friday were two of our friends from the Diocese. Sister Donna Marie, Director of Education, and Sister Mark, Director of Elementary Education, enjoyed listening to Tedd Arnold and visiting with the students, faculty, and staff.

A special thank you to Mrs. Rae for making the whole day possible!

November...a Month of Giving Thanks!

Wow, where is the school year going? The first marking period is over, conferences are starting, the turkey will soon be cooking, and before you know it, the rush to Christmas will be on. Many people get caught up in the pandemonium and they forget to take time and enjoy this wonderful month of Giving Thanks!

In the final weeks of November, take time with your family and be thankful for all of the wonderful things in your life. Don’t rush out of November and into December. Don’t get caught up in the materialism of Christmas. Remember, that Advent starts on November 28th. Take time to go to church and enjoy the calmness of Advent and give thanks to God!

Quick Reference:

  • Half Day Dismissal on November 23-25 will be at 12:10.
  • Return permission slips A.S.A.P. (Extended K-5 Dance Matinee & K-6 Christmas Program).
  • Children should arrive for the Christmas Program by 6:30.

Final Thoughts:

  • If there is a change in dismissal for your child, please send a note to school in the morning. This is especially important for our younger students.
  • The Christmas Program will be at the LHU East Campus (the old Lock Haven High School auditorium) at 7:00 PM on December 10th.
  • If you cannot make your conference appointment, please call the school.
  • Don’t forget to support the Holly Mart at Immaculate Conception Church on December 5th & 6th!
