Pilgrims Landing onto the New World

Finally the long voyage was over and in December 1621 a good place to build a new town was found.
The Pilgrims looked around to find a place with calm water for fishing and a source of fresh water for drinking.
 
The Pilgrims' first winter was very difficult.
There were not enough houses built when the snow begins to fall.
Many Pilgrims stayed aboard the Mayflower through the winter.
The Pilgrims were not used to the very cold winter.
At least 40 Pilgrims died because they didn't have enough food or medicine.
 
A group of people called the Wampanoag were already living in the area of Plimoth.
